nbsppopular spindle press ideal for small scale cider making This 45 litre press has a solid metal base plate and legs with a tough bakedon polyester coating an oakslatted cage bound by coated steel hoops beech wood pressure blocks and a cast iron pressure mechanism A threaded spindle is secured through the baseplate and passes up through the middle of the cage The cage is filled with crushed fruit two semicircular beech discs are positioned on top of the pomace and an assembly of blocks placed over the discs a large iron nut is then screwed down on top of the blocks forcing the wooden piston into the cage pressing the fruit as it moves down The juice escapes through the cage staves and flows into the juice channel of the baseplate and out through a lip into a bucket or jug
