Woodforde's Wherry Bitter Kit
Home Brew Concentrate - Makes 40 Pints
Woodforde's Norfolk Ales has become a by-word for consistency and excellence among brewers of cask conditioned ale and their customers.
Woodforde's has grown from tiny beginnings to become one of the largest and most respected of the wave of new cask ale brewers who started up in the early 1980's. It was a time when beer drinkers finally began to rebel against the relentless blandness of the larger brewers products, and pioneers turned first to home brewing and then to commercial production of their lovingly created recipes.
Now you can make your own top quality Woodforde's beers easily and economically in the comfort of your own home. Discover your favourite from the great range of Woodforde's Home Brew kits.
About the Woodforde's Wherry Bitter Kit
Fresh and zesty with crisp floral flavours. A background of sweet malt and a hoppy 'grapefruit' bitter finish characterises this champion bitter.

Muntons Gold - Imperial Stout
Home Brew Concentrate - Makes 40 Pints
Many years ago - centuries in fact - it was discovered that the way to brew the best ales and beers was to use only malt, hops, water and yeast in the brewing process. In the 15th Century in Germany this was taken a stage further with the introduction of the Reinheitsgebot - a law prohibiting the use of any ingredients in the brewing process other than these raw materials.
This law stood until only a few years ago when the EEC over-ruled the Reinheitsgebot which they considered to be a barrier to free-trade within Europe! In spite of this the breweries have refused to change their recipes and still brew using only the four magic ingredients - their customers would not be satisfied with anything less, they tell us.
Traditional English ales were brewed originally without hops but tastes change once hops from the Continent were introduced keeping the ale fresh for longer. Beer drinkers gradually developed a taste for the new hopped ales and in the 15th Century the modern tasting English ale was borne. More recently, economic pressure has forced many breweries to introduce cheaper adjuncts into the brewing process. Purists will argue however that the beer quality has suffered because of this and that it is far better to stick to the traditional practices. We at Muntons agree, which is why the Gold Range was developed, a range designed simply to make great beer.
As a commercial malster supplying breweries all over the world, we are in an ideal position to appreciate the quality and styles of malt needed to make the best beers. We have put our knowledge to good use and formulated what we believe to be the best beer kits available anywhere today - with a possible exception of Muntons Premium Gold! Made using only malt, hops, water and yeast, balanced to brew superb beers, modelled on the finest tradition of brewers art.
In keeping with our Gold standard, by using the easy to follow brewing instructions, you will brew beers of the very highest quality - a quality which complies with the 15th Century German purity law - the Reinheitsgebot. Cheers!
About Muntons Gold - Imperial Stout
As Imperial Russia extended its territories into the Baltic States during the early 1780's, Catherine the Great, Empress of all the Russians fell in love with strong British Stout. Imperial Stout captures the essence of this truly classic beer, with its full body, rich black colour and distinctive dry bitterness.
Capped by a smooth, creamy head, it is a brew to be savoured, and enjoyed at its best when served chilled - approximately 5C or 41F

Brupaks Colne Valley Bitter
Home Brew Concentrate - Makes 40 Pints
These are more than just beer kits they are Concentrated Brewers Worts. Production follows traditional brewhouse procedures using only the finest quality 2-row malting barley and the choicest English hops. The grist (crushed malt) is 'mashed' with water at 65C for about one hour to convert the starches into sugar. The resultant liquid (wort) is strained off into a boiling vessel where hops are added for bitterness. After boiling, extra hops are added for flavour and aroma.
In a commercial brewery the wort would be cooled rapidly to around 20C, then transferred to a fermentation vessel where it is transformed into beer. As our worts are to be fermented at home, they first need to be reduced to a convenient size for the home beermaker to carry. To achieve this, the excess liquid is evaporated under vacuum, at low temperatures to preserve the delicate flavours, then pasteurised and canned. To continue the brewing process at home, all that is necessary is to dilute the concentrated wort back to its original density and ferment! Extra hops are included to restore aroma lost during production.
Included in the box are some advanced instructions for those who like to experiment. Subtle flavour differences can be achieved by adopting a few advanced techniques e.g. bitterness adjustment, sweetness, colour etc.
